This position is based out of the San Francisco office and open to a two days in the office, hybrid schedule once onboarding and orientation is complete.
Role Overview
Walker Warner is looking for a highly motivated and proven Human Resources Generalist to help evolve and execute on the human resources strategy for the firm. In close partnership with the Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will have the exciting opportunity to work on a variety of people related projects that will help the firm meet its ambitious goals for the future. This role will work with all levels of the organization, providing both day to day HR support and will have the opportunity to take ownership of firm wide people related programs. The ideal candidate will bring their HR experience to the team in order to hit the ground running by rolling up their sleeves and jumping head first into the work, is proactive, solution oriented, extremely organized and passionate about creating an exceptional employee experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Director of Human Resources, help evolve and execute the human resources strategy for the growing, multi-state firm working within a hybrid environment
- Lead day to day HR administrative functions for the firm, with minimal oversight, including:
- time and attendance tracking, HRIS management, Leave of Absence Administration and ongoing employee changes (new hires, terms, benefit changes, promotions, address changes, etc.)
- Lead the end to end recruitment program for the firm, in partnership with Director of HR and Director of Architecture Operations, including:
- confirming hiring needs, job postings, candidate sourcing, candidate screening, interview coordination, references checks, offer logistics, background checks through to coordinating and hosting a flawless onboarding and integration experience
- Responsible for the administration and tracking of firm wide people related programs and ensuring program objectives are consistently met on time and to the expectations agreed to, including:
- key anniversary rewards, required training(s), I-9 compliance, profit sharing payments, onboarding/off boarding, benefit orientation, open enrollment, general year end updates, etc.
- In partnership with the Director of Human resources, lead the administrative responsibilities of the bi-annual Performance Review Program
- In partnership with the Director of Human Resources, may attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain ongoing compliance in San Francisco, CA, IL, NY, OH, OR and WA (and potentially other States as needed by business)
- Provides support to Administration, Architectural Operations, Finance and Marketing Teams as needed, including:
- Part of a rotating team that provides front desk reception coverage during breaks and PTO
- Oversight of time and attendance compliance for the firm, including the timely submission and approval of timesheets weekly
- Yearly fiscal calendar update
- Special projects (i.e. Marketing data clean up, Architectural Licensure tracking)
- Performs other duties as identified and assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
- At least three years of related human resources experience required, ideally in supporting a hybrid, multi-state organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; positive and helpful attitude, ability to provide friendly and professional internal client service
- Extremely organized and capable of effectively handling multiple projects/tasks concurrently with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills - proactively leads with a curious mindset to identify and execute on best possible solutions
- Excellent computer/technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suite and an HRIS system; experience with JazzHR (ATS), Rippling (HRIS) and Tilt (LOA Admin) preferred
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and maintain strict confidence and discretion of sensitive information
- Thorough knowledge of CA law required; experience working with employee rules/regulations in San Francisco, IL, NY, OH, OR, WA strongly preferred
- PHR or SHRM-CP strongly preferred
Compensation and Benefits
Walker Warner Architects offers a competitive compensation package including fully paid health benefits for employees, profit sharing, employer 401(k) contribution, generous paid time-off and flexible spending accounts, plus so much more.
The 2025 hiring base annual salary range is $82,000 to $105,000. Any offer of compensation will be determined by a candidate’s education, skills, and experience as assessed during the interview process.
